DIS 'N' DATA ARCHIVE

Chunky

Most folks have probably lost track, but the storefront at 726 N. High St. across from Buttles Avenue has been vacant for over three years (since pm gallery’s move), so the new signage out front is a bit of a surprise. Bringing the space back to life and into focus and into the New Year is Chunky Armadillo selling repurposed furniture, vintage items, jewelry, candles, apparel, handbags, nic nacs and functional art. The rustic decor inside and out reflects the bohemian spirit that drove owner Melanie Hutchins from working a corporate job in Texas to constructing a coffee table out of an old airplane propeller. After a dozen years in Dallas, the 37-year-old Wheeling, West Virginia, native now lives in Westerville with her husband and two children, Nicholas, 13 and Zoe, 5. Hutchins made a break from the structured world of big business to enter into (with her husband) the field of flipping houses, where the couple began learning the ropes and delights of fixing and finding. Call 972-757-3204 or visit Facebook to learn more.

The artwork of Lynda McClanahan appeared in the January issue of Hinduism Today Magazine as a two-page spread. The painting, River of Karma, River of Life, can be viewed online with her observations about her collaboration with the publishers at https://lyndamcclanahan.wordpress.com. This is her second contribution to the magazine. McClanahan is a self-taught artist and musician, known in the Short North where she and her husband, Joel Knepp, have performed as the duo Nick and Polina. They live in the Harrison West/Victorian Village neighborhood. Joel is a columnist for this paper.
