15 YEARS AGO 2004: FAREWELL
It has been 15 years since FUNCTIONAL FURNISHINGS closed in 2004. Jeff and Matthew Ungar opened the contemporary furniture store at 601 N. High St. in 1976. The Ungar family's history in the area dates from 1959, when Belle and George Ungar opened a used-furniture store and auction house in the building just north of Goodale Avenue. At that time, the three-story building was home not only to their used-furniture store but also a wine shop, bait shop and post office. Now, several retail stores, a restaurant, UPS store and lofts are located there. [© File photo]
